September 15, 2019 David: From Shepherd to King-1 Rev. Dr. Twining F. Campbell

Posted on September 16, 2019 @ 11:26 pm

Following the Westminster Chimes, Dr. Imre Szilas plays the Concerto in A minor by Antonio Vivaldi.

Rev. Dr. Martha Campbell introduces, as she calls them forward, Jamari Fernandez, Braden Fung, and Ian Paddock to receive their Bibles as they enter 4th grade.

Rev. Dr. Twining Campbell reads 1 Samuel 16:1-13 – the account of Samuel coming to Jesse and anointing his youngest son, David, the King of Israel.  Leads the congregation in the Prayer of Illumination and then preaches on how the Bible always portrays its heroes honestly – never as perfect.  However, God isn’t looking for perfect people – that’s why David was chosen and why we are chosen.

The service concludes with the Lord’s Prayer, the Benediction and the Postlude, Triumphal March by Edvard Grieg – played by Dr. Imre Szilas on the Westminster pipe organ.
