October 7, 2018 – World Communion Sunday
Following the Westminster chimes the choir leads the congregation in singing Yahweh accompanied by the Westminster Trio (Imre Szilas – piano, Bowie Bossendorfer – drums, Twining Campbell – bass guitar).
Andrew Lee leads the congregation in the Prayer for Illumination and then reads the Scripture lesson: John 7:37-44 about Jesus at the last day of the Feast of the Tabernacles. The choir then sings You Are My Song with the congregation.
Rev. Dr. Martha Campbell prays the Prayers of the People and then leads the congregation in saying The Lord’s Prayer that was part of the Lord’s Supper liturgy.
The choir then sings Blessed Be the Name of the Lord as the anthem again accompanied by the Westminster Trio.
The sermon, by Rev. Dr. Twining Campbell, examines Jesus’ promise that those who believe in him would have “rivers of living waters flowing through them” and showed slides of the installation of the water system at Collegio San Mateo that he San Gabriel Presbytery installed in May of this year, along with other pictures of Lima and the surrounding area. The sermon concludes with pictures and descriptions of the gifts Westminster made possible for the school as an example of living water flowing through our church and congregation to our community and the world.
The service concludes with the Benediction and the Postlude – Grand Chorus Dialogue, by Eugene Gigout – played by Dr. Imre Szilas.
