March 4, 2018 The Third Sunday in Lent – Lent A Practice of Preparation
On this Third Sunday in the Season of Lent (a time to prepare for Holy Week and Easter) we continue our series: Lent: A Practice of Preparation using the sixfold charge: Live simply, love generously, serve faithfully, speak truthfully, pray daily and leave everything else up to God.
Following the Westminster Chimes there is an excerpt by the Westminster Trio: Imre Szilas – piano, Bowie Bossendorfer – drums and Twining Campbell – bass guitar.
Deborah Owens leads the congregation in prayer and then reads the scripture lesson: John 13:1-17.
Rev. Dr. Martha Campbell leads the congregation in the Prayers of the People followed by another excerpt from the Westminster Trio.
The sermon is by Rev. Dr. Twining Campbell and the Lenten series continues with: Serve Faithfully – using John’s account of Jesus washing the disciples feet. We all know about serving others – we’ve served many people all over the world. But serving faithfully means allowing Jesus to serve us, through other people.
The service concludes with Imre Szilas playing the conclusion of the “Prelude & Fugue in Em – The Wedge” by JS Bach
as our Postlude
