February 25, 2018 – Second Sunday of Lent – Lent: A Practice of Preparation
On this Second Sunday in the Season of Lent (a time to prepare for Holy Week and Easter) we continue our series: Lent: A Practice of Preparation using the sixfold charge: Live simply, love generously, serve faithfully, speak truthfully, pray daily and leave everything else up to God.
Following the Westminster Chimes Rev. Dr. Twining Campbell leads the congregation in prayer and then reads the scripture lesson: Luke 6: 27-36.
The anthem is – Kyie Eleison–composed by Imre Szilas. The song features the choir accompanied by the Trio: Imre Szilas on piano, Bowie Bossendorfer on the drums and Twining Campbell playing bass guitar.
The sermon is by Rev. Dr. Mrtha Campbell and the Lenten series continues with: Love Generously – using Jesus’ challenges, from the Sermon on the Plain, to “love your enemies” and to “do to others as you would have them do to you.” (Luke 6:31)
The service concludes with Imre Szilas playing “Piece Heroique” by Cesar Franck as our Postlude
