December 24, 2017 The Fourth Sunday in Advent/ Christmas Eve — Service of Lessons & Carols
Following the Westminster Chimes Candace, Bowie and Rain Bossendorfer, give the Call to Worship, lead us in prayer and light the four Advent Candles.
Following the Call to Worship the Service of Lessons & Carols begins with Rev. Dr. Martha Campbell reading the First Lesson from the prophet Micah 5:2-5 followed by the Carol – O Little Town of Bethlehem.
Lesson 2: Isaiah 9:2-7 is read by Betty Lofland followed by the Children’s Choir singing “Emmanuel” featuring soloist – Fletcher Paddock.
Lesson 3: Isaiah 11:1-9 is read by Vickie Fung followed by the Carol – It Came Upon the Midnight Clear.
Lesson 4: Isaiah 40:1-5 is read by Cynthia Martin followed by the Carol – O Come, All Ye Faithful.
Lesson 5: Luke 1:26-38 is read by Andrew Lee and followed by the Carol – Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.
Lesson 6: Luke 2:1-7 is read by Julie Haynes and is followed by the Carol – Away in a Manger
Lesson 7: Luke 2:8-16 is read by Candace Bossendorfer and followed by the Children’s Choir singing Rise Up, Shepherd, and Follow – featuring soloist – Braden Fung.
Lesson 8: Matthew 2:1-11 is read by Eleanor Dent and is followed by the Carol – We Three Kings of Orient Are.
Lesson 9: John 1:1-4 is read by Rev. Dr. Twining Campbell and is followed by the Carol – Good Christian Friends, Rejoice.
gives the Benediction.
The service concludes with the trio: Dr. Imre Szilas – piano, Bowie Bossendorfer – drums, and Twining Campbell – bass guitar, playing “Puer Natus Est” an original adaptation by Dr. Szilas.
